Scott Ziglinski – Founder – Educational Director
Scott Ziglinski has been working in the field of education for twenty-five years. In 2002, he made the decision to become an expert in a field that didn’t exist: engineering education in primary schools. Since that time, Scott has worked with over 120,000 students and has trained over 1000 teachers.
Scott spent the first nine years as a teacher in the middle and high school classroom in different parts of the United States. In 2001, the Evergreen School District in Vancouver, Washington recruited him to train primary teachers how to teach hands-on, inquiry based science lessons. It took all of ten minutes of working with primary students for Scott to make the decision that his days of working with secondary students were over—primary students would be his focus. While these young students got excited about everything, nothing made their eyes light up more than an activity in which they designed and built something that moved. In the summer of 2002, Scott put together a week long engineering class for 9 to 11 year-olds. That was the official beginning of his new programme: Elementary Engineering.
In 2006, Scott moved to Tralee, Ireland. Since that time he has been working with primary schools throughout the country. Three to five times a year he travels to the United States to work with American teachers and students.
