During the year, Scott conducts “engineering days” at schools.  All of the lessons cover the Forces/Energy strand (content area) as well as the Designing & Making (process skills) part of the curriculum.  Here is a broad outline of the programme:

Module 1.  Roller-Coasters: Potential/Kinetic Energy

Module 2.  Gravity Go-Carts: An Introduction to Forces

Module 3.  Rube Goldberg Machines: Transfer of Energy

Module 4.  Magnetic Go-Carts:  Force Fields

Module 5.  Air-Powered Go-Carts:  Transformation of Energy

Module 6: Sail Carts: Applied Air Forces

Module 7: Tin Foil Boats & Sail Boats: Buoyancy & Net Force

Module 8: Air-Powered Boats:  The Law of Conservation of Energy

Below are some of the schools Scott worked with in Leinster during the school year.

Until 2015/2016, Scott had worked with about eighty schools in Munster.  Munster references can be provided.

Taking It To The Streets Tour
(We were going to call it Taking It To The Primary Classroom Tour but that didn’t sound so rock n roll or cool.  Also, with this tour title we have a theme song AND Mr. Michael McDonald might show up and sing it.)

Even though the plan could end in divorce, Eddie agreed to rework her schedule so that she could go on the road–Mondays and Tuesdays–and do double classes with Scott.  While we work with seniors to 6th, we are particularly interested in introducing engineering to the smaller ones.  This age group is often overlooked when it comes to science and engineering.  This makes no sense, as it is imperative to introduce engineering at an early age.  Young students must practice working their way through problems and communicating with others.
